Yay! You made it to week three!
In week one I shared about knowing your why when it comes to speaking a second language.
Last week I shared some beginning steps.
This week you’re ready to start speaking, or at least to start getting ready to speak. So here is step #3, learning to speak, the basics.
Learn colors, numbers, days of the week, months, etc.
Get a phrasebook with audio and become familiar with the basic sentences and vocabulary.
Find conversational lessons. You can find these on YouTube. I highly recommend Lingoni if it’s available for the language you’re wanting to learn. Another way to practice this is through language programs that use scripts. One that I’ve used is Pimsleur (you can buy it or find it at your local library). There’s also the Coffee Break Podcast.
Start looking in person or online for: conversational groups, language exchanges, courses (can take extremely inexpensive classes on iTalki), or a family member or friend to practice with. Look for all the ways you can incorporate the language into your life. The more you learn the easier it will become to include the language in your daily life.
Next week I’ll share how to become more comfortable speaking and how to learn more vocabulary.
Have a good day!
Bonne journée!
