What this week looked like:
This week I met some more people through the few people I know from the church.
My favorite things:
community and how welcoming people are. consistent favorite.
the Hawaiian flavor of lilikoi aka passion fruit
again nature especially the rain~even though it wakes me up way too easily (I literally will wake up at 3 am if it’s raining lightly).
a better understanding of rest and what it means to slow down.
The chickens are a becoming more endearing to me. It was so adorable seeing a chicken with baby chicks while I had breakfast on Sunday.
My least favorite things/things to be praying about:
the tension (politically/culturally + me being somewhere new)
culture shock and just shock in general. I barely left the house this week unless I had somewhere to go..to connect with people. Long story short I like it here but my life has changed so much in two weeks that I’m just in shock now. So this upcoming week is about just being present here and getting over the shock. Coming to terms that my life is different and even if I move someplace else after living here my life will not be the same as before. This may sound a bit dramatic…but it’s real and people here have got to witness my dear in the headlights look/emotions all week.
moving update: so long story short I’m still in O’ahu now waiting for the opportunity to move over to Kauai (I’ll save that story for another time). But I’m planning on exploring O’ahu this upcoming week and really being present here.
job update: the same stuff. Also I’ve been tutoring ESL. Planning on calling places back next week.
